Steve Herrell opened the first Herrell's® Ice Cream in Thorne's Marketplace in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1980. This store is still in operation today.
The ice cream is made strictly according to the Herrell's® formulas, procedures, and ingredients in each store, every day. We do not contract with any other company to make our ice cream.
We make our own frozen yogurt, sorbet, sherbet, and No-Moo® (non-dairy ice cream). Availability varies from store to store, but we also sell:
...and many other food delights. T-shirts, hats, and aprons are also available. You can buy many of Herrell's® products here on our website.
Yes! Most stores cater ice cream parties. Please call the individual stores for more information.
Herrell's® is currently seeking new franchisees. Please contact Judy Herrell at Herrell's® Development if you are interested in owning your own Herrell's® Ice Cream store, or if you know of someone who may be. Enjoy exploring our franchising information page.
Mr. Herrell worked full time with Herrell's® Ice Cream until 2014. At this time he is retired and writing a book about the ice cream business. Steve is available to work with current owner and family member, Judy Herrell, on special projects when requested.
